Make a change and heal your relationship with money.
I'm your Financial Healing Coach. Together, let's heal from and manage financial anxiety.
Hi there! I'm Joanne, Your Financial Healing Coach.
I know that money management can be anxiety-inducing or absolutely paralyzing. I know because I've been there myself.
You may feel stuck in an ever-revolving door of debt with no end in sight.
You may feel the inability to save extra money for your big goals, like contributing to your retirement or starting or growing your own business.
You may feel the inability to control your spending, despite all your efforts to track expenses or budget.
You may be unwilling to negotiate a higher salary at your job.
You and your significant other may find it difficult to broach the complicated issue of money in your relationship.
No matter how hard you have tried tackling your money issues, your goals evade you.
You feel deeply afraid of confronting your money in the first place.
The feelings and emotions that come up around money are too big to confront.
If any of this resonates with you, you may be struggling with at least some degree of financial anxiety.
That's because money management has to go beyond just the numbers.
Believe it or not, we bring our emotional baggage and past traumas to the way we interact with our money.
It can be overwhelming to know where to even start healing this part of your money life.
That's where I come in.
As an Accredited Financial Counselor and Certified Financial Social Work Coach, I bring heart and healing to money management.
I help my clients address the complex feelings and emotions behind their money.
I foster awareness and reflection in a safe and non-judgmental space.
Financial anxiety can keep the best of us from reaching our full financial potential.
Together, let's heal from our financial anxiety.
Your Financial Healing Coach,
I am your Financial Healing Coach, specializing in...
Making debt easier to manage.
Just the thought of paying down debt may bring you a lot of discomfort, but that's where I come in. I clarify the path to debt repayment for my clients and show them that their debt is not impossible to manage. Or if it is, we explore options such as bankruptcy. Together, we will build an easy-to-follow plan where you go from paying off debt to eventually paying yourself instead.
Finding a budgeting method that fits YOU.
Budgeting is not the sexiest concept in personal finance, but it makes the sexy concepts possible. Want to start your own business, fund your child's education, get to investing, or [INSERT YOUR DREAM HERE]? Budgeting shows you how it's possible. I center your personality and working style to find the best method that keeps you coming back to your budget.
Advocating for your needs.
It can be scary, nerve-racking, or intimidating to call your financial institution to file a fraudulent claim, to settle a debt, to ask for an increase in your credit limit, or to establish a payment plan for your back taxes. I can hop on the phone with you to jumpstart your confidence and articulate to your financial institution what you need.

About Joanne, Your Financial Healing Coach
As immigrants from the Philippines, my parents were often victims of loan sharking, predatory financial misinformation, and an unjust lack of financial education that resulted in costly mistakes. Somehow, they figured it out with four daughters! After I graduated college, I overcame a healthy dose debt (~$100,000) with large helpings of anxiety and hopelessness along the way. It took me some time and some therapy to accept that this was my version of generational wealth – I inherited a system that preys on populations who find themselves in vulnerable or desperate situations.
Thankfully, I survived that crushing debt and lack of knowledge, but not without patience, humility, and more patience. I made it my mission to be my family's personal finance nerd, with the help of early personal finance blogs such as NerdWallet and Money Under 30.
My real-life, hard-knock financial experiences paired with my training as an Accredited Financial Counselor and Certified Financial Social Work Coach help me bring deep understanding, healing, and heart to money management for my clients. I provide non-judgmental spaces for my clients to work through their financial anxiety, traumas, and hardships.
I am also a financial educator for Financial Beginnings, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing financial education programs to students of all ages and at no cost. As you can see, I live and breathe financial empowerment! It is my life's work to change the world one budget at a time.
I love adventuring with my family, cooking Filipino food to connect with my culture, singing karaoke all night long, and supporting my community.
What it's like to work with me...
“You helped me to get a clear picture of my finances and set up systems to more easily manage them on a regular basis. I have much more clarity and confidence in facing and managing my finances, and the ability to do more future forecasting and planning. It's been a game-changer. Most importantly, you provided a positive grounding energy and cheerleading that really brought up my spirits when I was overwhelmed.”
"My husband and I were unable to discuss money: we avoided it all together and couldn't understand how we had no money or couldn't save any. Working with you was incredible: through your low pressure approach, we understood how we were spending our money, what was important to discuss, and how to meet our goals. Now, talking about money is no big deal. Your easygoing nature worked really well for us as we are pretty chill."

This is a common question I hear after someone has changed employers: what do I do with my old HSA....
Navigating IRS back taxes can be a frustrating and maddening task. But know that you're not alone...
